Moving Off the Farm and Trying to Stay Amish
with Author Susan Trollinger, professor at the University of Dayton.
Many Americans know the familiar parts of Amish life—horse‑and‑buggy travel, no electricity, slower living. But Amish communities are changing in major ways as economic pressures push families off the farm and into new kinds of work. Susan will explore these shifts, what scholars call “the Amish industrial revolution,” and the big question: can the Amish remain Amish?
A thoughtful, eye‑opening look at tradition, change, and identity. Free and open to all. This program is made possible through the generous support of the Friends of Marvin Memorial Library.
