MANSFIELD, OH – A major water main break at the intersection of Glessner Avenue and Mulberry Street left many residents without water this week, prompting understandable frustration and concern. But behind the inconvenience lies a story of hard work and dedication from the City of Mansfield’s Water Department employees.
Crews responded quickly to the break and worked tirelessly to make the necessary repairs. Photos from the scene show the scale of the job — a deep excavation and a significant portion of the water main that had to be replaced. While heavy machinery like a backhoe was used for digging and lifting, nearly all of the repair work was done manually, by hand.
It’s easy to take water service for granted until it’s interrupted. And while the inconvenience of losing water is very real, it’s important to recognize the physical labor, technical skill, and commitment that goes into restoring that service.
The men and women of the Water Department deserve a round of applause for their efforts, not just for this repair, but for the work they do every day, often unnoticed. So the next time you turn on your tap, take a moment to appreciate the people who make that possible.
