Bellville, Ohio – The Ohio Highway State Patrol is investigating a semi-truck accident that occurred on I-71 Northbound at mile marker 165.8. Emergency responders received a call about a semi on fire after it left the roadway, went through a guardrail, and rolled onto its side.
Fire departments from Washington Township, Troy Township, and Mansfield arrived on the scene to address the fire. Tragically, one fatality has been confirmed.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation. A towing company is set to recover the tractor-trailer during daylight hours. Motorists should anticipate delays on I-71 Northbound just past the OH-97 Bellville exit later today.
