Mifflin Twp Fire Department 1 other FD from Richland and Ashland City Fire responded to I71 North bound Mile marker 178.8 for a report of a cattle truck on fire. OHIO Highway State Patrol and Ashland Sherrif are on scene handling traffic control and any investigation that needs to be completed.
A veterinarian is en route to provide medical care for the cattle.
After talking to a Sherriff Deputy. I learned several cows escaped the burning trailer. These cows were rounded up and secured.
1 cow had to be put down, and there may be 1 more that may need to be. A veterinarian will decide once the cow has been accessed.
