Mansfield Celebrates Juneteenth with Parade and All-Day Festival

Mansfield, Ohio – June 14, 2025

Mansfield kicked off its 4th annual Juneteenth celebration earlier today with a high-energy line dance party in front of the Renaissance Theatre, followed by a lively parade through downtown that began at 11 a.m.

Community groups, marching bands, dancers, civic organizations, and political candidates took to the streets along Marion Avenue and Park Avenue West to honor the historic end of slavery in the United States. Spectators lined the sidewalks, waving flags and cheering on the procession, which reflected a spirit of freedom, unity, and cultural pride.

The celebration continues this afternoon with an ongoing festival in Central Park, running until 6 p.m.

This year’s Juneteenth Gold Sponsors include Gary Feagin – State Farm and OhioHealth, with additional support from area churches, businesses, and nonprofits. The event is coordinated by Princess Endowment Inc., a local organization committed to community empowerment and cultural education.

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, the day Union troops informed enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It has since become a celebration of Black freedom, resilience, and achievement.

Journalist’s Note: I am not happy. I am a fat American on a diet, and these vendors have some of the best-smelling barbecue. My mouth is still watering, and I am unable to partake. #fatmannothappy
