The City of Mansfield announced plans to study the possibility of building a new public swimming pool. They will hold a public open house later this month to gather input from the community.

Mayor Jodie Perry stated that the city has hired Counsilman‑Hunsaker & Associates, a well-known aquatics consulting firm, to conduct a Public Pool Feasibility Study. This study will look into the community’s need for a pool, collect feedback from residents and stakeholders, explore design options, determine space requirements, and estimate construction and operating costs for a future facility.

“Mansfield has a long and proud history of providing public access to pools,” Perry said in a press release. “Previous facilities became too expensive to maintain and operate after decades of use and did not meet modern building codes. We have a unique opportunity to build the future of water recreation for current and future Mansfielders.”

The city will hold a public open house on March 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the North Lake Pavilion as part of the planning process. Residents can learn about the study, ask questions, and give feedback on the future of public swimming pools in the city.

Earlier that day, the study team will meet with a project steering committee and several stakeholder groups, including youth representatives, neighborhood leaders, and educators, to gather more perspectives.

“We welcome all members of the community to join this important conversation,” said Louis Andres, the city’s public works director. “Your feedback will help shape the future of aquatics in Mansfield.”

Residents who cannot attend the open house can contact the city’s parks office to share comments or ask questions about the study.

The city owns 21 neighborhood parks and has invested in recent years to upgrade park amenities based on resident requests, according to city officials. More information about the park system is available on the city’s website.
