Mansfield – The Mansfield Patrol Post responded to a two-vehicle crash on Park Avenue near Adams Street, in the City of Mansfield, at 2:27 AM.
The preliminary investigation shows a 2021 Ford Expedition, operated by David Kirst, 49, of Mansfield, Ohio, was westbound at the traffic signal on Park Avenue at Adams Street. A 2001 Yamaha FZS1000 motorcycle, operated by Samuel Simmons, 30, of Mansfield, Ohio, was westbound on Park Avenue approaching Adams Street. The Ford was struck in the rear by the Yamaha. Mr. Simmons was transported to Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Mansfield Police Department, Shelby Police Department, Mansfield Fire Department, and Auer’s Towing assisted on the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
